SYNOPSISThe purpose of TAW's recruiting policy is to ensure a good match between a player's expectations and the clan's needs.
To become a recruit, a player must be invited by a TAW member or a player may fill out an application. Once the invitation is extended, the sponsor guides the recruit through the evaluation phase, wherein personality, teamwork, and quality of character count more than quality of gameplay. At the end of the evaluation period clan members vote whether or not to accept the recruit as a member. If a recruit is voted in, he/she becomes a full member of TAW, with all the rights and privileges thereof.
The recruit process consists of three phases:
- Invitation/Application
- Evaluation
- Vote
Of course there are several steps to each of the phases. A lot of administration work needs to be done along the way so that no one "falls through the cracks". These rules are in place to ensure everyone knows what is required, which gives each recruit a fair chance. The rules for recruitment look daunting, but just take them one step at a time and you will be fine.
RECRUIT REQUIREMENTS
- Players wishing to become a recruit should join us in our TeamSpeak server and play in our game servers as much as possible.
- In addition, a potential recruit MUST:
a) have Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2, COD4 or COD5. Other mods, such as Desert Combat or AIX, are optional. b) have a basic understanding of the weapons, maps, and strategies. c) have Teamspeak and a working microphone. d) have a broadband connection. e) have a high level of maturity (those under the age of 16 will not be considered for membership). f) have spent sufficient time playing in our servers and in our TeamSpeak to verify the above and to confirm that the player will fit the clan's personality and goals. g) be able to contribute financially to the clan - dues are due every three months.
INVITATION PROCESS
- Only a Full Member in Good Standing may invite a player to become a recruit.
- A Member should be familiar with the player's character and maturity before considering extending an invitation.
- A potential Sponsor must post in the "Recruit and Invitation Info" forum stating his/her intention to invite a player to become a recruit.
a) The post must contain the players in-game name and indicate which flavors of Battlefield he plays. b) The post will remain for one week, in which time clanmates may comment on whether or not the player should be invited. c) If a clanmate does not post, his/her silence will be interpreted as a positive response.
- At the end of one week, the Member may (keeping in mind the posted comments) invite the player to fill out an application.
- After the clan reviews the application for one week and agrees at Roll Call to recruit the player the Recruiter will ensure the Recruit is granted applicable access and registrations (Forums, TeamSpeak, etc).
- The Recruiter will then notify the Recruit that he/she is now an official recruit and is required to wear recruit tags (=TAWr=).
EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK
- The evaluation period begins the day the application is posted, and will last a minimum of three weeks.
- The Sponsor is responsible for guiding and instructing the Recruit throughout the duration of the evaluation period.
- During the evaluation period, members are encouraged to post positive and negative comments about the suitability of the Recruit in his/her application.
a) If a member does not want the Recruit in the clan, he/she must specifically say so in the application - this constitutes a "NO" vote. b) If there are three or more "NO" votes during the evaluation period, the membership vote is foregone, the Recruit will be denied membership, and the recruit process ends*. c) Positive and negative comments are welcome - however, the absence of a comment will be interpreted as positive.
- The evaluation period ends with a membership vote at the next roll call following the three-week evaluation period.
- If it is decided the recruit is not ready for a membership vote, the Recruiter may decide to:
a) extend the evaluation period another week. b) terminate the evaluation period, in which case the Recruit is denied membership.* c) take another course of action deemed reasonable by the Recruiter.
The Recruiter will post the actions decided upon in the Recruit's application and the Sponsor will notify the Recruit.
SPONSOR'S DUTIES
During the evaluation period, the Sponsor will:
- ensure the Recruit is familiar with the Code of Conduct (including dues requirements), and that he can and will abide by those rules.
- instruct the Recruit on the use of forums, and TeamSpeak as needed.
- ensure the Recruit participates in as many Clan events (roll calls, practices, scrims, etc.) as possible. Roll Call is EXTREMELY encouraged BUT is not mandatory.
- ensure the Recruit spends as much time as possible in game and in TeamSpeak so that other members have the opportunity to evaluate him/her.
RECRUIT'S OBLIGATIONS
During the evaluation period, the Recruit is obligated to:
- wear his/her recruit tags at all times while in game, even if not playing in our servers.
- make himself familiar with the Code of Conduct (Recruits must agree to abide by these rules before becoming a member).
- participate in as many clan events as possible (roll calls, practices, scrims, etc). Roll Call is EXTREMELY encouraged BUT is not mandatory.
- make an effort to get to know as many clan members as possible - they will be voting on your membership.
- join TeamSpeak and play in channel with those you are in game with.
- participate in forum discussions (but dont post simply for the sake of posting).
MEMBERSHIP VOTE
- The vote will be conducted at Roll Call - no further debate or discussion of the Recruit is allowed during the voting process.
- Only "NO" votes should be made; the absence of a vote will be interpreted as a "YES" vote.
- "NO" votes may be cast aloud, by sending a private text to the Recruiter in TeamSpeak, or by absentee ballot.
- If a member will not be present at Roll Call, he/she may cast an absentee vote by sending a Private Message to the Recruiter at least 24 hours before Roll Call.
COUNTING THE VOTES
- The Recruiter will announce the tally of "NO" votes.
- If there are three or more "NO" votes, the Recruit is denied membership and the recruit process ends*.
- If there are fewer than three "NO" votes, the Recruit is voted in. However,
a) The Recruit is still considered a Recruit and will wear recruit tags until his dues are received. b) The Treasurer will notify the Recruiter when the Recruit's dues have been received. c) The Recruiter will notify the Recruit to let him know he may now remove his recruit tags. d) The Recruiter will move the application to the Member App Archive forum and update all access and registrations as applicable. e) The Recruit is now a Full Member and enjoys the rights and privileges thereof.
- The Recruiter must delete the survey thread before granting or revoking applicable access and registrations.
NOTES
- A Recruiter or Clan Leader may intervene in the recruitment process in any way, at any time, for any reason.
- An invitee can be denied recruitment or membership due to his or her actions, which will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis

- mTAW's have all the access that the Full Member has, except for admin privileges and voting rights.
X-MEMBERS RETURNING
- X-members wanting to return to the clan, who left on good terms, will have a two week probation period for the current clan members to evaluate them.
- During this probation period the Adjutant/Recruiter will inform the X-member to wear the full TAW (=TAW=) tags in all games. Also during this time the X-member will NOT have any Admin rights.
- ensure the X-member is familiar with the Code of Conduct (including dues requirements, and that he/she can and will abide by those rules.
- instruct the X-member on the use of TeamSpeak and forums as needed.
- ensure the X-member participates in as many Clan events(roll call, practices, scrims, etc.) as possible. Roll Call is EXTREMELY encouraged BUT is not mandatory.
- ensure the X-member spends as much time as possible in game and in TeamSpeak so that other members have the opportunity to evaluate him/her.
- At the end of the two week probation period the clan will vote at Roll Call to allow the X-member to rejoin the clan.
- If there are three or more “NO” votes, the X-member is denied membership and the process ends*.
*If the Recruit does not become a member, or is denied membership, he/she will be asked to remove his/her tags and leave. The Recruiter is responsible for removing access and registrations as applicable.
