Please NoteThe contents of this page may change without warning. It is the responsibility of each member to know and understand these rules and to keep abreast of changes. If you have any questions or need clarification on forum rules, ask the webmaster or one of the forum moderators. GENERAL - Read the forum descriptions before posting and be sure to post in the relevant forum.
- All posts on the TAW website must be in English.
- Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention to your post.
- Use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Lame!", "WTF?", "Please Read This", etc. Examples of good titles include; "Question about server policy (BoB)", "Guest names in Teamspeak", etc.
- Do not make posts that discuss potentially divisive topics, such as politics or religion. We are a gaming clan and discussions of this sort have no place here.
- Avoid making frivolous posts. The forums are here to discuss topics relevant to the majority of our members. They are not a personal canvas for expressing your "silly side".
- Keep posts on-topic. Before hitting the "submit" button, read the title of the thread and make sure your post is on-topic.
- Avoid the use of excessive smilies (emoticons) in your post.
- Don't make several posts one after another in the same thread. If you need to edit your original post, click the "edit" button and do so. If the edit button is not available, make another post, but avoid spamming the forum.
- After posting a request, wait a reasonable amount of time for a response (at least 24 hours, remember most of our members work) before posting another request.
- Signatures may be no wider than 500 pixels (regardless of height) and no taller than 143 pixels (regardless of width).
- Avatars may be no wider than 150 pixels (regardless of height) and no taller than 200 pixels (regardless of width).
- Keep signature and avatar filesizes reasonable. Be considerate of those with slower connections that will have to load your graphics every time they open your post.
- Avoid using animated avatars or signatures. It becomes quite distracting trying to read posts with a page full of movement.
- Do not use more than one signature. Battlefield statistics banners are considered a signature. You may use your "normal" signature or a statistics banner, but not both.
- Don't make multiple accounts for yourself. If it's discovered (it's not difficult) that you have multiple accounts, all of them will be deactivated.
CIVILITY There are no exceptions to these civility rules. - Be civil to your fellow forum users. They will respect you if you respect them.
- Don't use rude language or curse words. If you can't make your point without cursing, go back to school to expand your vocabulary or buy a thesaurus.
- Derogatory posts involving race, color, ethnicity, religious background, nationality, or sexual orientation are not tolerated and will be deleted without warning.
- Certain words deemed inappropriate for civil conversation will be replaced with asterisks if typed into a post.
- Don't hijack a conversation thread with an off-topic post.
- Don't start or contribute to a "flame war"
- Don't make threatening comments against another user, or post personal information about another user.
- Don't call another member a liar, or his/her post a lie. You are, of course, permitted to point out when a post is untrue or factually incorrect.
- The first one to start using profanity, insults, or name-calling in a discussion loses. If you can't make your point with intelligence and knowledge, then these forums are the wrong place for you.
- Do not attack someone because they attacked you first, or because that person "deserved it," or because you think someone is a disruptor. It is considered a personal attack to call a liar a liar, to call a moron a moron, or to call a jerk a jerk. SUPPLEMENT Before typing anything in a forum, bear in mind that you are a member of TAW because you enjoy playing BF42, BF2 or BF2142, you enjoy playing with the other members of the clan and because you enjoy their company. If you don't enjoy these things, then you must ask yourself why you are here. Next, if you are going to post something, ask yourself if it is going to annoy, irritate or discomfit any member or members. If it is, consider whether the purpose of your post would be better served by talking in TS, communicating with a member by PM, throwing a topic open for discussion at roll call, or reconsidering what you are about to post. If you intend by your post to attack another member or members, your post will very likely be deleted and you may find yourself denied access to the forums if you persist in doing it. We are here to enjoy each other's company in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, not keep looking over our shoulders for the next public attack on our abilities or character. Next, if you disagree with something that someone has posted, then feel free to disagree. However, keep your disagreement impersonal. If you feel annoyed or irritated or hot-headed when you compose your post, then that is probably how others will see it. Step back and consider whether you need to post at all. If you still want to, then address the subject matter, not the character of the member you are posting in response to. Therefore all members - please observe your responsibilities to your fellow members. This is a club with certain conventions of behaviour, some of the most over-riding of these being friendliness, courtesy and the common good. Let's use the forums for communication in a positive and friendly manner. If you can't do these things then don't post.
CONTENT Any post that encourages illegal activities will be removed and the user's further membership in TAW will be discussed by clan leaders. Don't post links to sites or images containing pornography, sexually explicit, gross violence, or that are determined by moderators to be detrimental to the cohesiveness of the clan. Imagery (including avatars and signatures) that is obscene, sexist, or racist is not allowed. Don't use inline image tags ([IMG][/IMG]) pointing to data stored on third party systems (hot-linking) for which you have not received permission to link to. An example of acceptable hot-linking is the Photobucket website. No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained copyrighted content is allowed. Links to this type of content, asking for, offering, or asking for help/helping to process such content in any way or form is not tolerated. Discussion of cheats and hacks is acceptable in the applicable forum. However, posting links to sites that host game-cheat software or encourage cheating or hacking in any form is not allowed. (Cheating and/or hacking is strictly prohibited in TAW.) Advertising goods, services, and/or websites is prohibited. A direct response to a specific question (such as "Where can I buy a new monitor?") is allowed. When posting copyrighted articles from other publications, make sure to post it in the format of a noteworthy excerpt from the story, and then a link to the site where users can find the rest of it. Don't post the entire story (or entire paragraphs) in the post as this can cause fair-use issues.
OTHER Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If you note an issue which contravenes something on this policy page, please bring it to the attention of a moderator, but only if a moderator has not replied within six hours. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Moderaters have the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. is up to the forum moderators.
DISCLAIMER The TAW Gaming Clan assumes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of any post made by its members. The content of each post reflects the opinions of its author and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the TAW Gaming Clan.
